86 4runner

Well I finally went full dark side, way out of my comfort zone. I just traded my Japanese motorcycle for a Japanese truck. 1986 white Toyota 4runner 22re/auto/ifs. Has a hard top a soft top and a bikini top. Needs a camshaft(already ordered it) has okay tires no lift, fairly straight for its age clean clear blue Texas title. Runs 60-65 down the freeway brakes need some work. I got a deal going with a guy now for a set of geared Toyota axles and probably going SAS on the front to make it ride a bit better.
Trying to convince the wide to let me go have a shakedown run at wolf caves November 17th/18th struggle buggy has already attempted to trade me his wrangler for the 4rnr he is also attempting to make the November run. Will not be able to make Turkey run if we have one as I will likely be in new Mexico.

I'm in the process of cleaning up my garage, I I think I'm gonna pass at this time. I am looking for a solid front axle for this 4runner tho.

Got the camshaft and timing chain/set done unfortunately the cam journals are a bit scored from no oil at some point. So I'm gonna run it till it pops then either a full rebuild or a 4.3 swap

Not horrible, it kept 70-75 down the freeway today without to much struggle. Needs a new throttle cable as this one is stretched to the max and does not allow for quick throttle response.

I would like to eventually go to a manual with dual cases and a solid axle but in need to finish all of my other projects first. Then this can be a project. She will be with me at wolf caves in Feb for the wheeler's for the wounded run.

Don't know jack about yota's honestly but looks like you got a good score.

I would really like to see and know if the yota crawl box's would or will work behind an auto.

Struggle buggy and I were on our way to lunch and i let him drive, he was bitching about the rough suspension and how you could feel every pebble in the road. I laughed for about 2 minutes then it hit me I would call her pebbles.

I don't think the doublers will work with an auto. So I am just gonna drive it until the motor or trans pops then go from there. It has a chain drive transfer case in it not a gear driven one.

Forgive my ignorance, but why won’t they work behind your auto? My buddy here in Roswell has an auto with dual cases and it seems to do fine.

I think the ones behind the V6s are chain drives? Just have to get the adapter/adapters?

I'm no expert on Toyota's, they may work with the right adapters. But the tcase that is in the truck now can't be used as a doubler. Since it isn't the gear style. I didn't dig ti much into it yet since I'm trying to focus on getting the ram 50 going.

That makes sense. Nobody wants to run a chain driven case anyway. I was just curious about it.
