This is my Honda Talon. I got it back in November and it's a blast. We also got my wife a 4 seater.

So far I've done basic stuff. I installed a winch, stereo, and built a wiring harness for the accessories. It also has Fuel beadlocks and 32" Kanati Mongrels.

Until now I've resisted the urge to chop it up, but one thing always leads to another.

The stock cages on these things are pure crap; basically glorified exhaust tubing.

My wife bought me a cage kit for my birthday. I finally got around to putting it together and was severely disappointed when I discovered it wasn't tall enough to clear my fat head. So time to bust out the bender and some tube.

First issue to deal with was the front mounts. I could've easily left them alone, but I hate the geometry of them. They lean in too much and, IMO, it makes the front look like a fat girl in skinny jeans with most aftermarket cages.

Of course the logical thing to do is start cutting up a $20k machine. So I cut the mounts off and lowered & angled them out. This will help the looks and should help some with strength.

Thanks. It is 1.75.

They started selling them spring of last year.

Coolest thing is it has a 6 spd dct transmission. No belt.

Most of the tube work is done. I just have one piece to add and some misc brackets.

I also need to do something for the back. I may put the piece I already built back on, or do something different. I need to figure out what to do for storage first to see how much room I need.

I would love to, but we're having my daughter's birthday party that day.

I won't have everything ready by then anyway.

I finally have a little progress to show. Cage is welded and the top is fitted.

This morning I had to fix my screw up from last night. I couldn't find my circular saw so I tried to use the jig saw instead. The blade jumped off the guide wheel and I didn't realize it until it started shooting sparks off the blade.

This is only about the fourth time I've welded aluminum and I've only practiced on sheet once.

Back side was a little better. Still not pretty, but it stuck the pieces together.

Got it ground down and trimmed to fit.

Set it back on. The light mounts are temporary. I will build some better mounts when I have more time and drop it down some.
