the first mod
was fixing the death wobble in the steering so i got one of these borgenson steering shafts
borgeson-dodge-ram-steering-shaft-000940-800x800.jpg
after we could actually drive it with out it wandering all over the road we ditched the leaking rubber excuses for tires and opted for a set of 38.5" tsl swampers
new shoes.jpg
and then we started to play in the mud
muddy girl.jpg
which has its consequences, lost brakes and had to hitch a ride to work

and here is where she sits now

plans for the next few weeks include a freshened up motor transplant, a transmission rebuild ( not dealing with that myself i screwed the pooch on the last one it is still in pieces in my garage) looking to get a set of 35" tires so I don't kill those 1/2 ton axles so quickly, most likely gonna Lincoln lock the rear and since i have the arb gonna install it in the front with 4.56 front and rear
i will get some more pictures as we start doing the work.

Motor swap starts today!!!!!
Hope to have the old one out Saturday and the new one in Sunday night
The fiancé has her mud run Saturday morning so we lose a couple hours there and I have a few guys from work coming to "learn" how a motor comes out.

Then I'm going to clean the engine bay out as they swap all the accessories to the new motor.
Will have some photos for the pic whores and hope to have her fired up and rolling Sunday so I can take and drop her off at the transmission shop

sweet.. where is she doing the mud run? What in?
She is running in a 5k mud run, it's just an obstical course people run thru for fun. She is a personal trainer and convinced her boot camp class to run it with her. It is here in Conroe

My wife is into the same crap. I've done a few with her and they're pretty fun.

everything is disconnected have the radiator out all that is left is the motor mounts tq bolts and bell housing bolts and I will be pulling her out. My time frame was disrupted by late help and fiancé car died in the woodland so I had to retrieve it.

Since I had the radiator out I pulled the condenser out giving me quite a bit more room for a set of pusher fans

That's all for today we have dinner plans with my parents to tell them the news

Didn't even break a sweat in 100° weather
The down side is the unit I have is relatively small and you just keep adjusting it to point at where you are working. You can also put a couple bags of ice in it to cool the air flow down even more

Pusher fan is a fan the pushes air across the radiator rather than pull it thru the radiator. I have a fan off a pt cruiser that I am going to use as a pusher and a dual fan setup out if a ford wind star that I will be attempting to use as a puller, all fans have a low/hi setting. I will carry the mechanical fan around invade one of those fans takes a dump on me.
Also with the additional space up front i can install a auxiliary p/s cooler and trans cooler

some of the best money I've spent this fan kept me nice and cool while claiming up and down getting everything undone
had some stubborn exhaust bolts had to bust out the torch. I'm lazy today so that is as far as I got I'll start swapping parts onto new motor after work this week, hope to have a runner this weekend,

Lol I know what a pusher fan is was just curious why you were using them instead of puller fans but your next post states you are using both. So now my question is why both? lol

Also what's the long term plans for this beast? Crawler? Mud rig? I'm enjoying the build so far!

Using both kind of as a redundant system, I've had issues with cooling fans dying on me, so I figure having a set pushing and a set pulling if one set dies I'm still good to go.

Long term is rock crawler, I've had to work under this thing for a few days now and I completely regret ever getting on a muddy road with this mud gets in places and waits till you have to work in it to fall out on you in your eyes and nose.
