So after seeing my wheeling rig sit 360+ days a year, and my wife and daughter both not really enjoying going wheeling, I decided to make it streetable so it could be used more. During the teardown for mods I found the driverside frame rail busted in half, and the frame rusting internally pretty badly. Decided to strip it down and start from scratch. Sold off the engine, tranny, doubler, chassis, and few odds and ends and snagged a bone stock 01 TJ with a trashed motor in it. Decided to build it with street manners being priority 1, but still make it capable of being wheeled and staying together. All the drivetrain was pulled and my 1 tons were installed, dropped a 5.3/700r4/np241 under the hood, put it on 40's and called it good. Started working on it in July for 6 weekends, then had to take some time off of it due to work schedule. Put about 7 more days into it now. and it is close to running. Hopefully by the end of the week, or next weekend it will be fired off and mobile. Looks like we will be be moving in 2 weeks, and Id like to drive it on the trailer and not have to push it.

Ill get some new pics tomorrow, most under the hood is done, armor is on, fenders are coated. Its starting to look like something.

Yeah, the quarters have armor on them and I am going to make the rocker panel armor myself. Right now the main concern is getting it mobile before we move.

Looking good. I’m glad you’re not out of the game completely. Good work.

Few pics of how it currently sits. Should be able to fire it off this weekend. Wiring is about 95% complete, just a few odds and ends to button up, and then put some loom on it all.

Did my own harness. Basically completely rewiring under the hood due to not like the look/fit/location of the stock fuse/relay block.

Its running and mobile, however been on the back burner the past couple of weeks while we were moving. I'm working on getting the garage all set up and then it can come here. Right now its still sitting at my old house. Next weekend I will work on it though as I need to fix the tranny leak (clocking ring didnt seal up worth a shit as usual), and build the exhaust. After that I will bring it here, just dont want to start pissing off the neighbors with it open headered lol.

So a year has gone by almost since the last update. Jeep has been driven about 1500 miles or so over the past year, working out all the little kinks. Took a little longer to get moved into the new house and get the old one ready to sell and sold so I was in a rush to get things done as Summer got here. Been working a turnaround for the past 2 months, so haven't had a day off since Oct 6, will finally get some time off starting this weekend as I have to burn off the rest of my vacation. Planning to knock out the next round of mods on the rig over that time and get it that much closer to ready to wheel a bit. It definitely is nice having one I can drive on the road though this time around. Pics are just some random ones over the Summer.

Changes coming very soon are : Ditch the RCI fuel cell and installing a Genright fuel tank back under the Jeep, Outboarding the rear shocks and installing some Bilstein 7100 reservoired shocks back there, trying a different clocking ring to try and gain some ground clearance back, Installing headers and single 3" exhaust (very very limited room trying to cram the dual exhaust under there, and it isn't working too well), replace the water pump, new transmission crossmember, build my sliders and start figuring out skidplates

After this I still need to get a cage built and installed, and clean up some things under the hood. Ill be changing out the entire engine harness as I plan to swap from the 700r4 to a 4L60E probably next year sometime and all the wiring has been eliminated from my current harness for the transmission.

Hoping to get it out on the trails next year a bit, maybe hit up Hidden Falls and Wolf Caves with it a couple times and start getting the rest of the bugs worked out before we load up and head to Moab in 2021.
